Coconut Creek Student-Athletes Win Conference Awards

It was another terrific high school sports season in Coconut Creek after dozens of student-athletes received conference awards. 

North Broward Prep Boys

Michael McGrath: Second Team 

Michael McGrath qualified for regionals in the discus and javelin to make Second Team All-Conference. He also competed in the shot put at Districts and came in fifth place.

Armando Suarez: Second Team

Armando Suarez also made the second team All-Conference Team competing in the 800 and 4 x 800 relay. Like McGrath, he also finished in the top five in Districts.

Connor Clyatt: Honorable Mention

Connor Clyatt reached the State Championship in the triple jump and the 4 x 100 relay. He also participated in Regionals in the high jump.

Deandre Desinor: Honorable Mention

Deandre Desinor was also a member of the 4 x 100 relay with Clyatt and ran in the 100 and 200 meters this year.

Maximus Fuentes: Honorable Mention

While Maximus Fuentes is set to play college basketball next year at Drexel University, he also ran in three Regional events, including the long jump, where he finished ninth.

Adren Roberts: Horobable Mention 

After finishing second in the triple jump in Regionals, Adren Roberts competed in States and came in seventh with a score of 13.33m.

Apolo Rodriguez: Horobable Mention 

Apolo Rodriguez was the third Eagle to race in the 4 x 100 relay in state and finished seventh in the 110 and 300 hurdles in Regionals.

Mori Schacter: Horobable Mention 

Mori Schacterer primarily did the shot put and came in first place in four events this season before finishing third in Districts.

Austin Smith, Jacob Tannenbaum: Horobable Mention:

Austin Smith and Jacob Tannenbaum were named honorable mentions for the boys’ teams, winning two games this year with wins over Westminister Academy and Palmer Trinity High School.

Ayesha Bruno: Honorable Mention

Alaysha Bruno participated in Regionals in the shot put after coming in fourth in the discus. She also competed in the javelin and shot put this year.

 Victoria Hernandez: Honorable Mention

Victoria Hernandez was one of four Eagles to run in the 4 x 100 relay, which came in 12th at States. Thought the year, she ran short distances and competed in the long and triple jump.

Ella Munoz: Horobable Mention 

Ella Munoz had her best result come in the Pine Crest Invitational. She was in four events and finished first in the long jump and second in the 4 x 100 relay.

Nina Sanguino: Honorable Mention 

Nina Sanguino shined all year and won seven individual events after excelling in the long and triple jump.

Rachel Weiner: First Team

Rachel Weiner had a historic season, scored 82 goals for the Eagles, and holds school records for goals, assists, and points in a game, season, and season.

Honorable Mention: Ava Pearlman, Julia Swill, Kylie Taylor

Ava Pearlman, Julia Swill, and Kylie Taylor were all named honorable mentions after helping NBP win eight games this season.

Monarch High School Girls 

Gianna Pomenzano: Honorable Mention

Gianna Potenzano not only made the State Championship in the 800 meters, but she also set a school record with a time of 2:19.87, which had been held for 11 years. She also competed in the 4 x 400 relay team at States.

May Ibiri: Honorable Mention

May Ibiri was teammates alongside Potenzano, which ran in states. That team also were District Champions earlier this year.

Coconut Creek High School Girls

Selena Adams: Honorable Mention

Selena Adams was the lone member from Coconut Creek to reach Regionals after coming in fourth in Districts in the 100 meters. She also ran in the 200 and 400.
