Broward County Teams Up with Schools for Annual High School Voter Registration Drive

The Broward County Supervisor of Elections Office will once again partner with Broward County Public Schools, along with select private and charter schools, to host its annual High School Voter Registration Drive from April 1 through April 30.

The initiative is designed to encourage civic participation among students and help them pre-register or register to vote. Officials said the goal for 2026 is to register at least 10,000 students.

“Engaging students early helps build lifelong habits of civic participation,” said Broward County Supervisor of Elections Joe Scott. “Our High School Voter Registration Drive gives students the opportunity to learn about the voting process and take their first step toward becoming active participants in our democracy.”

Throughout the monthlong effort, outreach teams will visit participating schools to assist students with the registration process and provide information on the importance of voting. Elections staff will also offer on-site support to help coordinate each school’s registration activities.

Schools that register the most students will be recognized by the Supervisor of Elections Office for their participation and commitment to civic engagement.

Students who wish to register online can visit RegisterToVoteFlorida.gov. To complete the application, students must provide a Florida driver’s license or identification card number, along with the last four digits of their Social Security number.

Those registering through their schools are asked to forward their confirmation email to hsvrd@BrowardVotes.gov and include their high school’s name. Students may also submit completed forms directly to elections staff during scheduled campus visits. A full schedule of school visits is available at BrowardVotes.gov/hsvrd.

According to the Broward County Supervisor of Elections Office, the High School Voter Registration Drive has helped thousands of students begin participating in the democratic process.

Under Florida law, students ages 16 and 17 may pre-register to vote, while those 18 and older can register if they meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizenship and no disqualifying felony convictions or restored voting rights.
