An altercation between two brothers in Margate led to a stabbing that left one brother in the hospital and another in police custody.
On February 1, the Margate Police Department received an emergency domestic violence call from a residence near the 5700 block of Seton Drive.
According to the arrest report, witnesses informed officers that a man was stabbed during a verbal altercation between two brothers; the alleged aggressor was identified as William Greg Joseph, 21, of Margate
The report shows police were told the fight between Joseph and the victim grew increasingly heated and boiled over to a point where Joseph raised the knife above his head threateningly, causing the victim to fear for his life.
The victim told officers that in response to his brother’s seemingly imminent attack, he attempted to grab his arm to take the knife away but was cut by Joseph during the struggle for control.
The victim alleged the cut resulted from Joseph’s intentional movements with his wrist that caused the knife to lacerate the victim’s right bicep and upper forearm — not accidental wounds suffered due to a chaotic struggle to control the weapon.
The arrest report states the victim’s injuries were severe enough to require transportation to the hospital, where he provided a sworn taped statement to officers about what led to his attack.
During questioning by officers, Joseph admitted to arming himself during the altercation with the victim.
Joseph was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail, where he was later released after posting a $2,500 bond.
