The city of Margate is partnering with Republic Services to present the 12th Annual Margate Academic Scholarship Program.
Graduating high school or college-enrolled students interested in applying for this one-time $2,500 scholarship should download, complete, and mail the scholarship application no later than 6 p.m. on Friday, May 24, to the Margate Parks and Recreation Department at 6199 NW 10th St., Margate, FL 33063, or email it to parksrec@margatefl.com.
Maria Fallon, the city’s communications and marketing manager, says applicants must be Margate residents and have at least a 3.50 GPA. They must also have a career path in government or non-profit and have 40 hours of community service.
Applicants are also required to write an essay of no more than 600 words.
One female and one male applicant are chosen each year. “It’s a pretty nice scholarship for an upcoming student,” said Fallon.
