After seeing stakes planted all over the golf courses, Woodlands residents were concerned: Were they surveying the course? Were they installing a new GPS system? Was the course being sold?
I contacted Jim Greene, Director of Operations, Woodlands Country Club who explained that there were no big plans afoot. He said that ClubLink, which owns the Woodlands Country Club, had a diversity of financial interests with the number of facilities under the ClubLink banner. In effect, it contained complicated financing of its holdings. Because of this, the Woodlands is currently part of a refinancing modification that requires the new banks to be comfortable with any risk involved in funding the package. Therefore, the banks authorized a survey of the entire property, which have resulted in the stakes that are now seen around the golf course.
He also added that the Woodlands is also undergoing several soil tests which will be analyzed to make certain ClubLink has been consistent in using responsible practices in turf management and use of any hazardous materials.
Greene added, “We continue to operate as one of Broward’s better golf facilities with country club amenities.”
