Two unique pets, Oliver, a gentle mastiff mix, and Moon, a sweet-natured feline, are seeking a loving forever home at the Humane Society of Broward County.
Meet Oliver: The Gentle Giant
Oliver, a two-year-old, 68-pound mastiff mix, has patiently awaited a new home since mid-March. He was found near the airport, likely abandoned, but was rescued by a kind-hearted individual who brought him to the shelter. Despite his rough start, Oliver has shown himself to be a calm, gentle dog with an easy-going demeanor.
Oliver has become a favorite at the shelter for his laid-back personality and excellent leash manners. He enjoys exploring and being with people, though he appreciates a little time to get to know new friends.
Once he feels comfortable, Oliver gives hugs and affectionate, sloppy kisses. An adventurous spirit, he loves water and was the only dog to splash around at the dog water park during a recent outing. Whether it’s a dip in a pool or a ride on a boat, Oliver is ready for fun.
Thanks to the generosity of J.R. Dunn Jewelers, Oliver’s adoption fee has already been covered, making it even easier for him to find a loving home.
Meet Moon: The Playful Cuddle Bug
Moon, a one-year-old cat, is also in search of her forever home. Her previous family moved and decided not to take her along, leaving her at the shelter. Moon is good with dogs, although she has never lived with other cats. Initially nervous at the shelter, she transforms into a cuddle bug once she settles into a new environment and gets to know her new family.
Moon has a playful side and enjoys interacting with anything but traditional cat toys. She also loves high places, so a tall cat tree would be perfect for her. Potential adopters are encouraged to give Moon, or any new pet, time to adjust to their new surroundings and routines.
