Rick and Steveie Brown moved to Margate over 50 years ago. Rick received the couple’s recognition at the Margate Commission meeting on May 15, as she could not attend.
The Browns moved to Margate in 1971 and have lived most of their lives there.
“When we moved here, there were few people here. We would eat breakfast at the Margate Diner, one of the few restaurants here. There weren’t many people living in Coral Springs either,” he said.
Rick and Steveie live in Margate on Sixth Street. For 35 years, Rick worked as a letter carrier for the Post Office. He coached his son and daughter in softball, and both graduated from Coconut Creek High School. Rick and Steveie were involved with them in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
“We have enjoyed living here, and we never wanted to move to another city,” he said.
