Tamarac Florida has been named one of the best 25 places to retire according to Forbes Magazine. Please check out the article here: Forbes Magazine. I heard that Tamarac was featured, however, I didn’t realize that my photo of the Woodlands Country Club would be published in the article.
I appreciate them using my photography as I feel it’s a beautiful view of one of our bridges, but it would have been nice to have been asked for my permission – or better yet, compensated.
Nevertheless, here is what they say about Tamarac:
Tamarac, Florida
This 13-miles-out suburb of Fort Lauderdale sports homes generally selling for less than $200,000. Besides the famous Florida weather and no-income-tax environment, there’s a hospital and decent mass transit. One drawback: cost of living is 14% above the national average. View Tamarac here.
The writer mistakenly writes that we have no income-tax. What he meant to write was that we had no STATE income tax. Mass transit? He used the right word when he said decent. It’s decent, if you like waiting for a Broward County Transit bus in the rain.
I’m glad to see Tamarac getting a little publicity and thrilled that it’s a great place to retire. But hopefully city officials don’t forget that most of us are working stiffs scraping away for retirement here in Tamarac as over the years our demographics are becoming much younger. It is my hope to see Tamarac in Money Magazine’s Top 100 Places to Live.
Now that would be something worth bragging about.
