You probably have received this slick brochure in your mailbox which says “Stop Fixing & Start Living! New Single-Family Homes Just Moments From Your Front Door.”
These are from the new community of Central Parc located off Commercial Boulevard near the Turnpike on what was once the Sabal Palm golf course.
The brochures are targeting us in the Woodlands, you know, who are wasting our lives away fixing up our old homes.
Yes, keeping up these old beauties is a labor of love, and with any older home, there are a lot of issues that naturally come up. But our homes are extraordinarily unique which makes our community a real hidden gem.  And most of them are very spacious compared to what you find in newer homes which tend to….well, look alike.
Their lots are so small, they can only fit boxy two-story homes on them, and walking up and down stairs isn’t exactly my idea of “living.”
And if living with gorgeous golf course view and decades old trees isn’t living, then I don’t know what is.  Move to a brand new home there, and you’ll be dead before your trees grow large enough to give you shade.
Want peace and quiet?  Then we live the life here in the Woodlands where we are fortunate to have a pretty peaceful neighborhood. Want a new home at Central Parc? Get used to the sounds of Turnpike traffic right outside your door. Now why isn’t that mentioned in the brochure?
One thing they do have is a park, and if our community wants to compete in the real estate market, then our HOA should consider working with the City of Tamarac in creating local parks around the community.  No one likes to get in the car and drive to a park.
The models at Central Parc range from $258,000 for a 1,500 square foot home to $315,000 for a 2,086 square foot home.  That’s under air, and pretty small.
“Live New, Live Smart, and Get Central” it says on the back. I guess I’ll have to decline “living smart,” at least according to their terms.
