Spitfire Farm, the Coconut Creek equestrian facility beloved by local horse riders, is accepting participants for two upcoming camps.
Daily riding, horsemanship lessons, nature walks, arts and crafts, and a new, air-conditioned clubhouse await participants at the farm’s “Thanksgiving Break Camp,” held Nov. 21, 22, 23, and 25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to the farm’s owners.
The cost for campers is $85 per day, with “before care” available from 8 to 9. a.m. and aftercare from 2 to 5 p.m. at a rate of $5 per hour.
The camp offers a 10 percent sibling discount for two or more sibling participants.
“Campers are encouraged to learn and explore in a safe environment,” said Ejola Cook, co-owner of Spitfire Farm. “We see so many shy kids at the beginning of the week, who become confident and more self-assured as the camp goes on just by learning to interact and ride the horses. Horses are magical and bring out the best in our campers.”
The farm is located at 4201 Vinkmulder Road.
Spitfire is also hosting a winter camp from Dec. 19 to 23 and Dec. 26 to 30. The cost is $85 per day or $400 for the week.
The farm’s camps, open to participants as young as five, are usually limited to 20 participants to allow all campers “a real hands-on learning experience,” Cook said.
Spitfire Farm, which houses 36 horses on 5 acres, is owned by Ejola and Paul Cook. Paul is in the active reserve in the United States Air Force, and Ejola, a corporate attorney, was once a competitive rider.

The farm is home to horses of various levels and experiences, from rescues to advanced competitors. Children are placed into groups based on their age and skill level.
The facility is one of the few farms in Coconut Creek where horses can be ridden into Tradewinds Park.
