Description of Incident:
Looking more collegiate than criminal, a young man in plaid shorts, a pastel-colored shirt and loafers was caught recently by surveillance cameras burglarizing a Dania Beach home.
Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives have released the video, which shows the burglar approaching the front of the house around 10:30 a.m. July 18 and knocking on the front door. When no one answered, he went around back and used a tool to shatter the glass on a French door. He put a bag over his head, presumably to protect himself from broken glass. Then he reached through the broken window and turned the door knob to get inside. He stayed in the house for about two minutes and left with an armoire drawer filled with $10,000 worth of jewelry, including a $6,500 tennis bracelet and an $800 gold and emerald ring.
