Monarch High School Athletics: Champions, Awards and Commits

Monarch High School football had a big week at Florida Atlantic University, while two players announced their commitment and received awards.

The Knights won a 7 x 7 Tournament, defeating Santalcues, West Boca Raton Community High School, Miami Jackson, and West Broward High School. Monarch also had seven offensive linemen compete in camps with Mekhi Miller, Donovan Isnadin, Jahmeer Beauzil, Jaymin Blake, Ayden Guy, Sebastian White, and Nicholas Soto. They competed on one-on-one drills and combined to win 27 matchups.

They also had their two coaches and one player win awards following their second straight District Championship and first Regional Title in school history. Calvin Davis was named Coach of the Year, while Roberto Montanez won Assistant Coach of the Year. Wide Receiver Samari Reed was named Male Student-Athlete of the Year after recording 56 completions for 1,311 yards and 15 touchdowns. 

In softball, Camryn Piskun was selected to the First Team after hitting .441, having ten extra-base hits and nine steals. Sammie Rice made the Second Team, and Sara Connor, Kylie Kim, Faith Lindeman, Mia Macaione, and Elena Ramirez were Honorable Mentions for a team that won 10 games.

Adriel Gonzalez made the Second Team for baseball, with Alejandro Cruanas and Diego Rojas picked as Horoabke Msntikns. Indiana Jordan was an Honorable Msntikn from the girl’s flag football team, and Josh Doerfler from the track and field team.

Coconut Creek’s lone section came from the track and field team, with Zyon Stimphil named Honorable Mention.

Monarch High School football had two players announce their commitment to playing in college in: Romando Johnson and Antuwan Parham. Johnson is heading into his senior year on the varsity football team and will play at West Virginia University. Parnam will be attending Tulane University. The Knights will open their season against Peachtree Ridge High School.
