The City of Margate aims to help residents safely dispose of household hazardous waste, electronics, and sensitive documents.
On Saturday, September 14, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the city will host a Household Hazardous Waste, Electronics Collection, and Document Shredding event at Oriole Park, 7055 NW 1st Street.
Residents will have the opportunity to securely dispose of a range of hazardous materials, including aerosol products, auto and boat batteries, cleaning supplies, and compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs). The event will also accept lawn chemicals, propane tanks, gasoline, kerosene, and up to four tires per household. For those looking to get rid of electronic devices, televisions, computer monitors, and printers will also be accepted.
In addition to hazardous waste disposal, secure document shredding will be available for residents with sensitive papers to dispose of. There is a limit of three standard-size paper boxes per person. To ensure a smooth process, residents are asked to place all items to be shredded or disposed of in their vehicles’ trunks, hatch, or bed, as no items will be removed from the cabin. Attendees must remain in their cars throughout the event.
Proof of Margate residency is required for participation.
