Margate Commission Sets Preliminary Fire Assessment Rate

Margate homeowners can expect to pay $305 per year for fire rescue services, according to a preliminary assessment rate set by the commission.

During the June 3 meeting, the commission approved a resolution relating to the provision of fire services, facilities, and programs in the city. This establishes the estimated assessment rate for fire rescue assessments for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2026, according to city information.

The resolution establishes a residential property-use category rate of $305 per dwelling unit. The maximum fire rescue assessments for residential property use categories in future fiscal years are $373.

Non-residential properties will be assessed per square foot. Commercial properties will be $0.38, industrial/warehouse $0.05, institutional $0.48, and nursing home $0.72.
