Margate Crime Update: Man Flees Traffic Stop, Hides on Rooftop Before K9 Unit Tracks Him Down in Margate

Margate Police responded to various calls through May 12. Below is a detailed account of the incidents handled by local law enforcement during this period.

Aggravated Battery – Domestic Violence
A suspect threw a metal cup at a woman’s head, causing a large laceration that required several staples. The suspect fled but later agreed to meet with police.

Domestic Battery – Arrest
Alexis Gonzalez, 24, was arrested after allegedly grabbing a woman by her hair and shoulder during an argument about a neighbor’s dog. Transferred to BSO custody.

Fraud and Grand Theft – Arrest
Gerdy Nate, 29, was arrested after obtaining a new vehicle from Arrigo Dodge using a fraudulent check.

Stolen Motorcycle
A 2021 green and black Kawasaki ZX636 was reported stolen from Courtyard Drive. The motorcycle’s lock had been cut and was missing.

Stolen Vehicle
A black 2024 Dodge Ram pickup truck was stolen overnight from Monte Carlo Lane.

Criminal Mischief
A 2024 Mercedes Benz parked at Cirq 5100 Apartments had both windshields smashed overnight. The owner reported being alerted by the car alarm but did not check until morning.

Vehicle Burglary
Tools, including drills, hammers, and saws, were stolen from a box truck parked on Banks Road sometime after May 1. The lock and door were damaged.

Domestic Battery – NIC Arrest
Diego Barbosa, 38, allegedly took a phone from a woman’s hand and forced her thumb on it for verification during a dispute.

Grand Theft – Electric Bicycle
An unknown suspect was seen on surveillance video stealing an electric bike from Jesse’s on Atlantic Boulevard.

Delayed Theft – Storage Unit
Management at CubeSmart on NW 15th Street noticed multiple items missing from a storage unit. The owner was out of town.

Traffic Offender – Arrest
Marquez Fraise, 22, was arrested during a traffic stop after it was discovered he was a habitual traffic offender with four prior DWLS convictions.

Resisting Arrest and VOP – Arrest
David Foster, 44, fled from a traffic stop and attempted to hide on a rooftop. He was later found and taken into custody with the help of Margate K9 and BSO Aviation.

Capias Arrest
Timony Sean Lorenz, 58, was arrested at a shopping plaza on Atlantic Boulevard after officers responded to a report of a suspicious person. He had an active warrant for failure to pay child support.

Capias Arrest During Trespass Call
George Daniel, 62, was taken into custody on an active DWLS warrant during a trespass investigation on SW 11th Street.

Battery – Dating Violence and False Imprisonment
Rodchild Capita, 26, was arrested after an argument turned physical. He allegedly choked a woman and broke her phone during the altercation.

Domestic Battery and Strangulation – Arrest
Matthew Grantham, 48, allegedly knocked a game controller out of a woman’s hands and choked her during an altercation. He was located in Pembroke Pines and transferred to BSO.

Domestic Battery – Arrest
Leovardo Valverde, 58, was arrested for simple battery after a domestic argument escalated into physical violence. He was deemed the primary aggressor.

Trespassing and Warrant Arrest
Marie Shunnara, 46, was arrested after being trespassed from a residential facility and returning shortly after. She was also wanted for petit theft.

Domestic Battery – Arrest
Maria Landaeta Salazar was arrested after allegedly striking a man in the face during an argument about his alcohol use, resulting in visible injuries.

Vehicle Burglary
A vehicle parked at Northwest Hospital was found with its hood open and fingerprints on the windows. Nothing was stolen, but prosecution is desired.

Retail Theft
An unknown man fled Walmart on Atlantic Boulevard with a stolen Ninja Chopper valued at $22.96 after being confronted by an associate. He may have escaped in a vehicle.
