On July 4th, Margate held one of its largest city events, a parade that brought many families and friends together.
During the July 8 meeting, the commission honored the best floats. In the business category, Strykertees, a custom apparel and promotional item company, won first place.
“I grew up in Margate and went to Margate Middle School. I was proud to be part of this parade, and I am working to develop my business,” said Johanna Gutierrez, the owner of Strykertees.

Fellowship RCO, a residential recovery program, won the non-profit category for the second year straight. Sara Barkley, the CEO of the company, said she enjoyed being part of the parade and was proud her organization earned first place. “We enjoyed participating in the parade,” she said.
In the family category, the Watters and Sivertsen families won.

Mayor Antonio Arserio said the parade was a positive event for Margate, drew a large crowd, and was well run.
