With the high school football season well underway, three Coconut Creek football teams took the field for Week 5.

Monarch

Monarch started the week with a matchup against Marjory Stoneman Douglas Thursday night. Despite trailing 14-6 in the fourth quarter, the Knights responded with 14 unanswered points to win 20-14.

Quarterback A.J. Hairston continues his red-hot start to the season. After throwing for over 325 yards last week against Piper, Hairston added 250 yards this week, along with 42 yards on the ground. He threw a touchdown pass to Jessie Fields, who had 11 catches for 123 yards and also ran one himself. Willis Reed also ran the ball 15 times for 85 yards and a score, while Jabari Brady caught five passes for 79 yards.

Defensively, the Knights had three sacks. Gavin Peacock recorded one of them, while Griffin Johnston had two. Peacock also let and led the team with ten tackles. Jermaine Dalias and Corey Ebert each recorded seven tackles, while Jaiden Jacobs and Christopher Andrews combined for 11.

The Knights are now 4-1 this year and will return home for a matchup on Friday, September 30, against Olympic Heights Community High School at 7 p.m. The Lions come in with a record of 1-4 this year, with their lone victory coming against Suncoast High School in their opening game.

North Broward Prep

North Broward Prep came out on fire in their game against Kings Academy but could not hold on in their 21-6 loss. Deandre Desinor got the scoring going on with a 62-yard touchdown to put NBP ahead 6-0.

The Eagles continued feeding Desinor and Marcus Dixon the ball throughout the first half. However, Kings Academy had their biggest offensive play come on a muffed punt. Shortly after, they scored for a 7-6 lead into halftime. They would extend the lead to eight with a touchdown on their first drive out of the break and would go on to score one more time late in the fourth quarter.

Coconut Creek High School

After starting the season 2-0, Coconut Creek High School lost its third consecutive game. They fell to Blanche Ely High School Friday night. After falling behind 28-0, the Cougars scored three second-half touchdowns but ultimately ran out of time despite recovering an onside kick in the final minute.

Jamarie Hostzclaw recorded a rushing touchdown while Aundra Atterbery returned a fumble for a score. Asanre Samuel also threw a touchdown pass. The Cougars move to 2-3 this year after back-to-back games lost by seven points. Next, Coconut Creek will play Fort Lauderdale High School on Friday, October 7. The Flying L’s come in with a perfect 3-0 record and have outscored their opponents 92-22 this year.
