Coach Charles Hendrix of Coconut Creek High School was awarded the inaugural Jason Stein Athletic Director of the Year Award.

The award was named for the late Jason Stein of J.P. Taravella High School, who died from COVID-19 in 2020.

Coach Hendrix has overseen over a dozen student-athletes who committed to playing sports in college after they graduate from Coconut Creek High School this spring. Among those were nine varsity football team members, including Indiana University commit Trvell Mullel.

The Broward County Athletic Association Banquet was held at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Coral Springs Hotel and Convention Center.

Coconut Creek also went 8-2 in the regular season and defeated South Fort Myers High School in the postseason. The Cougars also surpassed their win total this season in baseball, boys volleyball, girls basketball, girls soccer, and flag football.

We originally reported that Coach Hendrix Won the Chris Hixon Athletic Director Award. That was handed out to Hollywood Hills Athletic Director Kevin Perry.  We regret the error.
