Family Cards and Games in Margate is a place where people can play table games, trade sports cards, and race miniature cars.
The business is located at 7962 West Sample Road and includes tables where people get together and play games such as Pokémon, War Hammer, Dungeons and Dragons, and Magic The Gathering. According to Larry Altavilla, the owner, they can also buy or sell professional sports cards and all trading card games.
People can purchase or trade various toys, comic books, and other collectible items. On a recent Saturday morning, individuals and friend groups sat around tables playing multiple games and socializing.
“We have a fun and family-oriented environment. We also offer free instruction for all games and card and video game tournaments,” said Altavilla.

He opened the business in May and has seen a lot of customer interest. “We want this to be a place for people of all ages to come and have fun. We are the exclusive store in Florida for the Neopets trading card game,” he said.
Family Cards runs a competitive tournament for Beyblade X, a spinning top challenge. The store is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to midnight, and Sunday from noon to 7 p.m.
