Tamarac residents are advised to be on the lookout for unlicensed and unscrupulous lawn and tree service operators, who exact large fees from homeowners for exaggerated or even non-existent problems.
A recent scam in Broward County involved two individuals who convinced homeowners that their trees and shrubs were infested with termites, that the situation was dire, and that immediate action was required to prevent further damage to home and property. Exorbitant fees were then charged for the minimal service rendered. ALWAYS use reputable companies and businesses able to show proof of licensing and insurance. A business card alone is NOT sufficient documentation to proceed with an agreement for services!
