David’s Swim School, in partnership with the Drowning Prevention Florida Foundation, is expanding its aquatic education and water safety programs with the opening of a second Broward County location in Margate, marking 46 years of service dedicated to drowning prevention and swim instruction.
Founded in 1980 in Caracas, Venezuela, David’s Swim School has grown into a family-owned program focused on water safety and skill development.
The school is led by Olympic coach and sports psychologist David Hoyos and educator Adriana Neves, along with professional coach and instructor trainer Juan Hoyos and synchronized swimmer and coach Andrea Castellanos.
The swim school has earned multiple recognitions, including the Ibero-American Award for Educational Excellence, and has been named Best Educational Program in Coral Springs for five consecutive years. Its programs emphasize safety, confidence-building, and skill development through lessons and quarterly aquatic competitions for youth.
The expansion includes a semi-enclosed pool located on the campus of Phyl’s Academy Preparatory School in Margate, integrating swim education into the school day and improving access for families.
The Drowning Prevention Florida Foundation, formed from the school’s community outreach, provides water safety education in schools and childcare centers, offers scholarships for families in need, and conducts workshops and aquatic therapy programs. The foundation also partners with local schools to promote swimming as a critical life skill and public safety priority.
David’s Swim School also operates programs at Coral Springs Preschool and collaborates with daycare centers and schools throughout the region. Programs are supported through partnerships with Broward County and the Florida Department of Health, which provide swim lesson vouchers for children and lifeguard and water safety certification training.
The new Margate facility will be officially inaugurated on April 18 with a swimming competition celebrating the school’s 46th anniversary and the opening of the new pool.
