Through our joint effort with the Margate Police Department to share updates with residents, this is a summary of Margate’s crime and arrests through Oct. 8, 2022.
Armed Burglary
On 10/10/2022, in the 7700 block of Golf Circle Drive, a victim awoke to find suspect Vernon Wilkins standing in her living room. He stated he was there to fix a mirror. The victim immediately called 911. Officers checked the residence and found Wilkins lying down on the couch. The subject had a loaded 9mm magazine in his pocket and had hidden a Glock pistol between couch cushions.
Burglary Conveyance
A 47-year-old male was the victim of Burglary Conveyance at 2484 N State Road 7 on 10/06/2022. Tot. Est. Loss: $20.
Criminal Mischief
On 10/08/22, the victim went out for a few hours and came home to find a large hole in her residence’s front window in the 5400 block of Southwest 11th Street. A rock had been thrown through it. It did not appear entry was made or attempted. The victim claims no issues with anyone.
Domestic Violence
On 10/8/2022, on E. River Drive, the victim got into a verbal altercation with a juvenile. During the argument, the suspect kicked the victim.
Hit and Run
A Hit and Run crash was reported at 5600 W Sample Rd on 10/04/2022.
Theft
Three catalytic converters were stolen from three company vans at Magnum Appliances, 1348 N. State Road 7, on 10/06/22.
A 47-year-old male was the victim of Theft – All Other on Winfield Blvd. on 10/05/2022. Tot. Est. Loss: $2,308.
Arrests
Meza, Christian DeJesus, 27, was arrested on charges of Veh Theft-grand Theft Of Motor Vehicle at 2466 N State Road 7 on 10/04/2022.
Patterson, Monay Jamamcla, 28, was arrested on charges of Touch Or Strike/battery/domestic Viol on Winfield Blvd on 10/08/2022.
Holland, Anthony Lamar, 21, was arrested on charges of Battery-cause Bodily Harm Dating Violence on SW 11th St on 10/08/2022.
