The City of Coconut Creek’s first annual Spelling Bee kicks off on Saturday, June 4, at 10 am at the Recreation Recreation Complex.
Christina Cottec, Recreation Attendant, and Dinesh Maraj, Recreation Programmer, are leading the event indoors on the gymnasium stage.
The city is preparing for 20 participants that all local children, families, and community members are invited to attend.
Children ages 9-11 are invited to register individually through the city website. All participants will receive a practice sheet and rules in advance to get comfortable with the words.
The first-place winner will be awarded a plaque, and medals for 2nd and 3rd place winners will be awarded.
There is a $5 fee for Coconut Creek residents and $10 for non-residents.
Doors open at 8 am, and the program begins at 10 am.
