Disney’s animated The Lion King is showing at Coconut Creek’s next Movies in the Park.
The event is held on Saturday, May 28, at 8:00 p.m. at Sabal Pines Park 5005 NW 39th Avenue. Movies are shown on a 15’x20′ screen. Movies feature sound and closed captioning.
Released in 1994, The Lion King tells the story of Simba (Swahili for lion), a young lion who is to succeed his father, Mufasa, as King of the Pride Lands; however, after Simba’s paternal uncle Scar murders Mufasa to seize the throne, Simba is manipulated into thinking he was responsible and flees into exile. After growing up in the company of the carefree outcasts Timon and Pumbaa, Simba receives valuable perspective from his childhood friend, Nala, and his shaman, Rafiki, before returning to challenge Scar to end his tyranny and take his place in the Circle of Life as the rightful King.
Guests are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, and coolers. These outdoor screenings are dependent upon Florida’s famously unpredictable weather conditions. Any cancellation or postponement will be posted on Coconut Creek’s Facebook page.
