Broward County Clerk of Court records show a Transportation Security Administration agent with over two decades of service at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport has been arrested on multiple child pornography charges.
According to a Margate police report, Keith Grunfelder, 52, was taken into custody on Tuesday and faces ten felony counts, including eight for possession of child sexual abuse material, one for transmitting such material, and one for compiling it on a computer.Â
Local 10 reports that during his first court appearance Wednesday, Broward County Judge Michael Usan set Grunfelder’s bond at $75,000, or $7,500 per charge. Grunfelder was also ordered to have no contact with minors and to refrain from using internet-connected devices.Â
Records show Grunfelder is currently being held at the Broward County Jail.
CBS News reports that Grunfelder has been employed by the TSA for 22 years and has been reassigned to an administrative role.
According to their report, a TSA spokesperson said he will not perform any screening duties while his employment status is under review.
“The Transportation Security Administration holds its employees to the highest professional and ethical standards and has no tolerance for misconduct on- or off-duty,” the spokesperson stated. “Any employee who fails to meet our fundamental ethical standards is held accountable. TSA is fully cooperating with the Margate Police Department in their investigation.”
Grunfelder’s next court appearance has not yet been scheduled.
