After four years, delegates voted to make a change in their leadership during their annual elections at the Woodlands Homeowners Association meeting last week.

The WHOA which oversees sections 1,2,5,6,7, and 8 has now elected Section Seven resident Ron Wilson as their new President.

Sources that were at the meeting told TheWoodlandsTamarac that the current President Patti Fox was asked to resign before the meeting, but refused. So nominations were taken by the delegates, which led to a vote by secret ballot being held where Wilson overwhelmingly won and was welcomed in.

Also elected were Section One Resident Wayne Wise as Vice President, Section Seven resident Sara Jane Rose as Treasurer, and Section Eight Resident Mike Jeknavorian as Secretary.

Wilson said he received some feedback from both the Board and the residents as to what they would like to accomplish this year. He says he wants to continue to promote open communication and encourage participation from the entire Woodlands community.

“As far as my goals are concerned I want to promote community beautification including, but not limited to, regarding landscaping the entrance fountain and Woodlands Boulevard.”

Wilson also hopes to renovate or replace the entrance signs for all three entrances and work with the City to step up code enforcement to enhance the appearance of the homes.

Wilson brings a wealth of knowledge and education to the table. He was born and raised in St. Petersburg, FL and graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelors of Landscape Architecture degree in 1974.

He practiced landscape architecture in Orlando 1974-1989 and owned and managed a resort in Marathon and as well as properties in the Ft. Lauderdale and Hollywood area before he retired.

He also served as the President of the Florida Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects and President of the Orlando Chapter of the Florida Nurseryman and Growers Association in the 1980’s.

Wilson moved into the Woodlands in 2009 and has served as a Delegate At Large on the WHOA Board and is currently Vice President of Section Seven. He enjoys cooking, socializing with his friends in the Woodlands and some traveling.

Both Section Presidents of Three and Four have congratulated Wilson and are looking forward to working with him and contributing to the betterment of the community.
