Through our joint effort with the Margate Police Department to share updates with residents, this is a summary of Margate’s crime and arrests through October 16.
Domestic Violence
An Arrest was reported Pinewalk Dr. S. A juvenile punched the victim in the face through a window, shattering the glass in her face and causing a laceration to her chin.
Burglary Residence
A burglary at the 400 block of NW. 65th Ave occurred where unknown subjects entered the rear window, punched a hole in the wall, and damaged closet doors. The front door remained locked.
Child Abuse
Child Abuse was reported on Coral Lake Dr., where a male became irate during a basketball game, placed both hands on the victim’s neck, and pushed them to the ground. The defendant was on top of the victim, holding him down by the neck, causing the victim to feel like he could not breathe. The defendant stopped when other players pulled him off the victim. The victim is 17 years old. Therefore, the defendant was placed in custody and charged with child abuse.
Disturbance
Margate Middle School at 500 NW 65 Avenue was put on lockdown temporarily due to reports of a student having a weapon on campus. The student was located; the weapon was a plastic toy handgun.
Grand Theft
Grand Theft was reported at Celebration Place West. The subject and victim were in a dating relationship. However, after their breakup, the subject deprived the victim of the permanent use of two pieces of jewelry valued at 13K.
Vehicle Burglary
There was a vehicle burglary at YouFit Gym on North SR-7, where an unknown subject entered the victim’s vehicle and removed a backpack.
Arrests
Adriel Ramah Presendieu was arrested at 6012 NW 3rd Street in the City of Margate. He had an active warrant for trafficking Heroin and trafficking phenethylamines out of St Lucie County Bond for $30,000 each.
Joseph Thompson was arrested after attempting to steal nearly $500 worth of merchandise before the detail officer stopped him on-site. Thompson tried to flee and resisted arrest. He provided a false name and date of birth for hours before finally being identified. He was found to have a warrant for violation of probation.
Peter Glynn was arrested after being involved in an altercation. The victim was struck by the subject several times, causing injury.
Matthew Brady was arrested after sending text messages to the victim, stating he was going to show up at his residence and cause harm with a sword he owned. Before leaving the victim’s residence, police observed him walking toward the victim’s residence. The defendant had a sword concealed in his pants, and he told police that he went to the victim’s residence to “set things straight.
