Margate has acquired more land.
During the May 14 meeting, the Margate Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) approved and accepted a contract for purchase and sale between the CRA and BLL Corporation for the property located at 1100 North State Road 7 for $3.8 million. There was little discussion on the purchase, but board members have often said they are eager to redevelop that city section.
The CRA also approved a resolution approving and accepting a contract for the purchase and sale between the CRA and 5915 Park Drive, LLC, to acquire the property at 5915 Park Drive for $1.425 million.
Board member Antonio Arserio said the purchase would benefit Margate and lead to positive development. Board members agreed that an older hotel on the property should be demolished and want the redevelopment of the city’s downtown section to make it a destination that people will want to visit.
