Our Woodlands Neighborhood Improvement District (WNID) is currently reviewing bids for camera systems much like Lighthouse Point as one of many options to make our community more secure.
The writer of the article, Linda Trischitta, mentioned that the Lighthouse Police gives demonstrations to the public and other police agencies. Â I hope our WNID will look into this. Â Â This system would cost less than our current BSO roving system and it has proven results. Â You must read the entire article to see the type of success they have had.
It’s too bad that the City of Tamarac didn’t look into this method of safety before voting yes on 20 new Red Light Cameras. Â We could solve a lot of crimes with this.
Lighthouse Point cameras help recover $500,000 in stolen goods
An accused bank robber was filmed by three different surveillance camera systems the day he was arrested: The TD Bank security cameras and, nine minutes later, at a Pompano Beach store parking lot where the FBI says he left his getaway car.
But it was the license plate recognition cameras in Lighthouse Point — where the FBI says Justin Ramos, 24, of Pompano Beach, drove prior to the Nov. 9 bank robbery — that led to his arrest that same day.
