Thieves Steal Over $2,500 in Clothing from Margate Family-Owned Business

By Sharon Aron Baron

Two women were caught on camera stealing over $2,500 worth of clothing from Fajas Colombianas Forestal Store, and the owners are offering a reward for their identification.

Located at Peppertree Plaza on West Sample Road,  the two women entered the store on Thursday at 12:45 p.m. with large purses and wearing heavy clothing.

The owner of the store, Augusto Ospino, asked if they needed help, but they refused. He then sat back at the counter and waited for them to ask for assistance, not wanting to get in their personal space. However, the surveillance footage shows the women stuffing merchandise into their clothing and leaving the store without paying.

The women had told Augusto that they would return at 5:30 p.m., which he found suspicious. He decided to view the video surveillance, then called the police, who searched the plaza but could not locate the suspects.

“It’s not fair; it’s a family business,” said Daniela Ospina Arroyave, the owner’s daughter. She added that the store would take more security precautions after this theft.

If you recognize these suspects, contact Margate Police.

The family is offering a $500 reward to the person who can identify the women. Contact the Margate Police Department at 954-972-7111.
