The Margate Police Department is set to undergo a rigorous assessment from the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA) beginning on Tuesday, April 25, 2023.
As part of the accreditation process, the team of assessors will evaluate the department’s policies and procedures, management, operations, and support services, ensuring they meet numerous standards critical to life, health, safety, and best practices.
To ensure the process is comprehensive, agency members and the general public have been invited to offer comments to the assessment team.
The CFA has made the standards manual available on its website, and persons wishing to offer written comments about the Margate Police Department’s ability to meet the accreditation standards may do so via email or postal correspondence.
The accreditation program manager for the Margate Police Department, Lieutenant Michael Druzbik, confirmed that the assessors are from similar agencies and will be reviewing written materials, interviewing individuals, and visiting offices and other areas where compliance can be observed.
As part of the assessment, agency members and the general public are invited to offer comments to the assessment team. A copy of the standards manual is available on the CFA website at www.flaccreditation.org under the standards tab.
For more information regarding CFA or for persons wishing to offer written comments about the Margate Police Department’s ability to meet the standards of accreditation, please send correspondence to: CFA, P.O. Box 1489, Tallahassee, Florida, 32302, or email to flaccreditation@fdle.state.fl.us.
The assessment results will be reported to the full Commission, determining whether the department will receive accredited or reaccredited status. The accreditation status is valid for three years, and the voluntary process to gain or maintain it is considered a highly prized recognition of professional excellence.
