A Margate man was arrested for aiming a pistol at his neighbor after an alleged garbage dispute.

On December 5, David McKenna, 66, of the 1100 block of NW 74th Ave, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to police, the incident occurred after the neighbor approached him after McKenna had come over earlier to discuss why garbage had been thrown on his lawn.

McKenna, armed with a black 9mm Sig Sauer pistol, followed the neighbor back to his home and aimed the weapon at him while on his property, according to the police report.

The neighbor ran back into his residence, fearing for his life. No shots were fired, and McKenna returned to his own home. Police later seized the black pistol from McKenna’s waistband.

McKenna admitted to aiming the pistol at the neighbor because he felt threatened, according to the report. He was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail, where he was later released on a $10,000 bond.
