Through our joint effort with the Margate Police Department to share updates with residents, this is a summary of Margate’s crime and arrests through Oct. 15, 2022.
Burglary
A burglary of an AT&T facility, the address of which was not made public, occurred on 10/16/2022. Unknown subject(s) cut through the fence on the east side of the compound, then pried the lock plate off the back door to gain entry to the building. The subject pried open several locked office doors until they found the room holding fusion splicers used to splice together fiber optic cables. Approximately 10-15 were taken. Each unit is valued at $5,000.
Burglary Conveyance
A 31-year-old female was the victim of Burglary Conveyance on W Sample Rd on 10/12/2022. Tot. Est. Loss: $75.
Disturbing the Peace
A fight involving multiple students occurred at Ascend Academy Charter High School, 5251 Coconut Creek Pkwy., on 10/12/2022. One student was transported to Broward Health.
Elderly Abuse
A 73-year-old female was the victim of Elderly AbuseINeglect on Royal Palm Blvd. on 10/13/2022.
Theft
A 73-year-old female was the victim of Theft – Motor Vehicle Parts on 10/15/2022. Tot. Est. Loss: $2,300.
A 57-year-old male was the victim of Theft- Motor Vehicle Parts on S State Road 7 on 10/10/2022. Tot. Est. Loss: $1,500.
A 54-year-old female was the victim of Theft – All Other on W Atlantic Blvd on 10/14/2022. Tot. Est. Loss: $300.
Grand Theft Auto
Grand Theft Auto was reported on Coral Lake Dr. on 10-16-22. The vehicle is a black 2022 Toyota Camry. The victim has possession of the keys.

Destinoble, Darel, 18, was arrested on charges of Disturbing Peace-interfere With School Administration Function at Ascend Academy Charter High School, 5251 Coconut Creek Pkwy, on 10/12/2022.
Cius, Nherry Alberto, 23, was arrested on charges of Felony Battery -domestic Viol on French Angel Terr on 10/12/2022.
Ebanks, Tavon James, 20, was arrested on charges of Aggrav Battery-person Uses A Deadly Weapon on W River Dr on 10/12/2022.
Crane, Shandrell, 20, was arrested on charges of Disturbing Peace-interfere With School Administration Function at Ascend Academy Charter High School, 5251 Coconut Creek Pkwy, on 10/14/2022.
Carrier, John, 18, was arrested on charges of Disturbing Peace-interfere With School Administration Function at Ascend Academy Charter High School, 5251 Coconut Creek Pkwy, on 10/14/2022.

Barba, Mark Jonathon, 37, was arrested on charges of Touch Or Strike/battery/dating Viol on W Buena Vista Dr on 10/17/2022.
