Margate Police responded to various calls through May 5. Below is a detailed account of the incidents handled by local law enforcement during this period.
Margate Crime Blotter
Criminal Mischief Arrest
A suspect was taken into custody for felony criminal mischief at 7844 W. Sample Road and turned over to the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO).
Grand Theft Auto Arrest
Kenneth Douglas, 22, was arrested at the Burger King on 550 N. State Road 7 for stealing a gray Nissan Altima.
Domestic Battery and Child Neglect
Kimberly Garner, 57, was taken into custody for domestic battery and child neglect related to a prior incident on SW 55th Way.
Beer Theft at Wawa
A suspect fled in a white work van after stealing two cases of beer valued at $59.90 from the Wawa at 2000 N. State Road 7.
Warrant Arrest Following Crash
Herman Lee Smith was arrested at Atlantic Blvd and State Road 7 after being involved in a crash with a Hollywood Police Department vehicle. He had an active warrant and was turned over to BSO.
Delayed Domestic Violence Arrest
Horacio Rios was arrested for aggravated battery after allegedly cutting a victim with an unknown object during an April 23 incident on NW 5th Court.
Trespassing at Wal-Mart
A man identified as Browne was arrested after returning to the Walmart despite being previously trespassed from the location.
Domestic Violence and Witness Tampering
Roopen Ramsammy was arrested on Yellowfin Lane for slapping a woman, seizing her phone and SIM card, deleting evidence, and threatening to kill her. He was later located and arrested.
Traffic Arrest – Habitual Driving with Suspended License
Kimaldeno Duncan, 23, was arrested at 1900 N. State Road 7 for driving with a suspended license as a habitual offender.
Warrant Arrest – No Valid License
Alicia N. Edwards, 18, was arrested at 7000 Royal Palm Blvd on an active warrant for driving without a valid license.
Expired Tag Leads to Arrest
Devontre Ward, 32, was arrested at 7100 W. Atlantic Blvd for driving with a suspended license and having an unregistered vehicle.
Trespass at Wawa
Denroy Ferguson, 32, was arrested at 2000 N. State Road 7 after being previously trespassed from the location and causing a disturbance while soliciting money.
Warrant and Resisting Arrest
Devin Santiago, 32, was arrested at 6418 SW 4th St on a warrant from Lee County and charged with resisting arrest after attempting to flee into a backyard.
Aggravated Assault After Prank
Elmer J. Ramirez, 45, was arrested at 5700 W. Atlantic Blvd for pointing a handgun at a car full of teens following a “ding-dong-ditch” prank. He faces four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Vehicle Burglary
A suspect broke into a Honda Ridgeline parked on NW 24th Street and stole $5–$10 in change. The individual was seen wearing black clothing and carrying a white plastic bag.
Cocaine Possession and Warrant Arrest
Timothy Glenn, 50, was arrested at 2000 N. State Road 7 for possession of cocaine and an active warrant.
Warrant and Driving with a Suspended License
Kevin McCall, 40, was arrested at 500 N. State Road 7 on a warrant and for driving with a suspended license (third or subsequent offense).
Domestic Violence Arrest
Michael Foxall, 46, was arrested on Banks Road following a domestic disturbance that resulted in visible injuries.
Warrant Arrest and Baker Act
Jenny L. Houts, 34, was arrested at 6470 NW 11th St on a probation violation warrant. She was medically cleared and turned over to BSO with Baker Act paperwork after expressing self-harm intentions.
Aggravated Assault with BB Gun
Lois Roekelein, 90, discharged a BB gun at a neighbor walking a dog near her condo on Royal Palm Blvd. She was taken into custody under the Baker Act and transported to HCA Florida Northwest Hospital.
Retail Theft Using Counterfeit Bills
A group of men used counterfeit $100 bills to steal merchandise valued at $224 from a store at 5441 W. Atlantic Blvd. The suspects were described as Black males between 25–35 years old.
