The Margate Commission approved an ordinance to authorize the issuance of the first series of bonds not to exceed $60 million for water and wastewater improvement revenue during the February 5 commission meeting.
The ordinance passed with little discussion among the commissioners. According to city information, this is the first of three phases of the $120 million water and wastewater improvement revenue bond approved by voters on November 5. This first phase will fund water and wastewater treatment plant improvements.
The money from this bond will finance capital improvements to the city’s water and wastewater system. The work will improve the system’s overall efficiency, address regulatory requirements, and redevelop its aging system, according to city information.
