While a Margate Police Officer was investigating an active crime, a woman was arrested for interfering in an active crime investigation and attempting to kick the officer in the groin.

On December 18, Aileen Jeanette Moya Rodriguez, 19, of Fort Lauderdale, was arrested for resisting an officer with violence by the Margate Police Department. The incident occurred while the officer investigated an active crime at the Forest Plaza at 602 S. SR 7.

According to the police report, Moya Rodriguez, who knew the subject of the investigation, approached the officer within five to ten feet, disrupting the investigation and ignoring the officer’s requests to back up and comply with his orders. Moya Rodriguez continued questioning the officer and remained near the detained subject, causing the officer to divert his attention and pose a safety concern.

When Moya Rodriguez was ordered to move away from the immediate area, she passively resisted and opposed all orders. The officer requested her identification a minimum of three times, to which she responded, “You can’t do that, you can’t arrest me.”

As the officer attempted to place Moya Rodriguez under arrest and gain control of her wrist, she turned and tried to kick the officer in the groin area, instead striking him inside his left thigh.

Moya Rodriguez was eventually taken into custody and arrested for resisting arrest with violence. She was transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
