Margate City Commissioner Joanne Simone has been awarded the Gold Certificate of Excellence by the Florida League of Cities for her active participation in the Certificate Program for Elected Municipal Officials.
This prestigious recognition is given to elected officials who take advantage of the League’s numerous training programs, which educate leaders on key issues, trends, and best practices affecting municipalities across Florida.
“I am honored to have deepened my understanding of the complex challenges facing our municipalities,” said Commissioner Simone. “This program has equipped me with the skills and insights to serve the Margate community better.”
The Certificate Program offers three levels of achievement: the Bronze Certificate of Merit, the Silver Certificate of Leadership, and the top-level Gold Certificate of Excellence. Commissioner Simone earned the Gold Certificate through her commitment to ongoing professional development, attending training sessions and conferences hosted by the Florida League of Cities.
Since 1989, Commissioner Simone has been a proud Margate resident. She was first elected to the Margate City Commission in 2012 and has been consistently reelected in 2014, 2018, and 2022.
