Woodlands Adults and Children Share Holiday Fun Together

Friends and families attended the annual Woodlands Winter Wonderland Holiday party hosted by the Section Five Clubhouse on Sunday evening.

Thanks to Section Five Neighbors Paula Stitt and Michael McMichael, the Clubhouse looked like a winter wonderland with hanging ornaments, winter sled and especially the handmade gingerbread house.

This year, our emcee was Stephan Thornton who played holiday music on his equipment and kept the party moving along.

The children started off outside on a scavenger hunt looking for hidden candy canes and Hanukkah gelt (chocolate coins). Then pizza was delivered from Jayno’s pizza and not a single slice was left.

Upon entering the party, each family brought an unwrapped toy to be donated to Child Net. For each toy donated, they would receive a raffle ticket for a prize donated by our residents.

This year was our second bake-off competition and we had a lot of desserts to choose from. Each person would choose their favorite dessert and drop a card into a box next to their favorite. For the second year in a row, Debbie Mudd won. This year it was for her chocolate truffles.

This year’s challenge for the adults was to piece together a song. Each person received a line from a famous holiday song and had to get not only get their teams together, but they find the correct order the lines in the song went. When they were done they had to raise their hand and sing the song.

Santa’s visit is always the highlight of the party and this time was no exception with Santa taking the time to thank the children for giving toys to those in need. He gave the children candy in return and took the time with each child thanking them. The children were mesmerized and sat attentively watching him.
