By Ryan Yousefi
A woman is facing charges of trespassing and assaulting law enforcement officers after she attacked the officers while being removed from a hospital.
On February 8, the Margate Police Department responded to the Northwest Medical Center in response to reports that a woman, later identified as Raysis Reyes, 43, of Margate, had become confrontational with hospital staff while undergoing treatment, leading to the call for police intervention.
Upon arrival, officers were informed by hospital personnel that Reyes had been disruptive and had assaulted medical staff during her treatment. Due to her behavior, the hospital asked law enforcement to remove Reyes from the property.
Officers repeatedly instructed Reyes to collect her belongings and vacate the premises to resolve the situation. Despite being given several minutes to comply, Reyes refused to pack her belongings or leave the area, resulting in trespassing charges.
The situation escalated as officers escorted Reyes out of the hospital. As she was being taken away, she resisted and made repeated physical contact with officers.
On November 23, 2023, Reyes was arrested and charged with trespassing at 2181 N State Road 7.
As a result of her abuse of hospital staff, refusal to exit the hospital peacefully, and assault of law enforcement, Reyes was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
