Two drivers in stolen vehicles led law enforcement on a high-speed chase, resulting in a foot chase and arrest of a Georgia teen.

On December 20, a routine patrol by the Sunrise Police Department turned into a high-speed chase involving two stolen vehicles and a foot pursuit on the Florida Turnpike.

The incident began after an officer spotted a stolen black Alfa Romeo bearing the license plate of a reported stolen vehicle.

The driver, later identified as Roderick Saimpre, 18, of Eagles Landing, Georgia, was observed traveling north on State Road 7 before turning east on Atlantic Boulevard.

To the officer’s surprise, the report indicated that a white Kia Stinger, known to be connected with recent burglaries in the county, was also in front of the stolen Alfa Romeo being driven by Saimpre.

Now, in pursuit of two stolen vehicles simultaneously, the officer requested support from the Broward Sheriff’s Office Aviation unit. Both cars, without provocation, ran a steady red light, prompting the officer to initiate his emergency lights and siren. However, the suspects did not stop and continued southbound on the Florida Turnpike.

BSO Aviation maintained visual contact as patrol units followed the vehicles from a distance. Saimpre eventually exited the Turnpike at Commercial Boulevard but quickly re-entered northbound.

The pursuit took a dramatic turn when BSO Aviation reported that Saimpre had crashed and was attempting to flee on foot on the entrance ramp to the Turnpike.

Margate Police Department officers joined the chase, entering the Turnpike, and observed Saimpre running on foot.

The MPD officers exited their vehicles and gave chase on foot, eventually capturing him.

Saimpre was arrested and now faces several charges, including aggravated fleeing/eluding for his high-speed evasion on the Turnpike. He is also charged with hit and run with property damage resulting from the crash, driving without a license, grand theft auto for the stolen Alfa Romeo, and resisting arrest without violence during the foot pursuit.

The report notes that Saimpre caused significant property damage to the stolen vehicle and minor damage to the Turnpike’s infrastructure.

The report does not indicate whether the second vehicle or its driver was apprehended.
