State Rep Hunschofsky: Welcoming the New Year with Gratitude and Mindfulness

State Rep Christine Hunschofsky.

From State Rep Christine Hunschofsky:

Happy New Year! I hope you and your family had an enjoyable holiday season and are having a great start to a better and brighter year ahead!

It was wonderful to be back home for the holidays after our two Committee Weeks in Tallahassee and our son’s college graduation. The New Year is often a time where we reflect on the past and make resolutions on how we can improve upon the future.

These past few years, I have chosen a one-word resolution to set the tone and personally guide me for the year ahead. This year, I have chosen the word breathe. The past few years have reminded me how quickly time passes us by and how our world can change at a moment’s notice.

With life’s fast pace, it is easy to get caught up in daily stress and take for granted the blessings we are given every day, no matter how small and challenging our day may be. Sometimes, we forget to notice the good moments of joy and how much we care and love them. I have found that taking time every morning and during the day to find a few moments to practice deep breathing and refocusing efforts has been very helpful not only in my perspective on things but also in being more efficient and effective.

This year, I will continue to strive to be mindful, to be present in the moment, not to let the negative completely drown out the

positive, to keep things in perspective, and to work toward solutions.

One of the things that always keeps me grounded is to listen to people, hear their stories, and learn from them. There is something so beautiful when we can connect on a personal level with the people who live in our communities. I am always inspired and humbled to hear people’s life stories, the ups and the downs, and the challenges they overcame.

There is always so much we can learn from one another. We have so many incredible people in our community who show up and give back whenever they can. They are often the overlooked heroes who I personally appreciate and have so much gratitude for.

Thank you for bringing me into your daily life this past year and trusting me to serve as your Representative in the Florida legislature as your District 95 State Representative. As we continue to work together to achieve positive outcomes for our community, it is my honor to serve, share your stories, raise your concerns, and ensure that you have my continuous commitment to making a difference.

While we have made substantial progress in areas of mental health, occupational licensure, bike and pedestrian safety, and so much more, we still have a significant amount of work ahead to deal with exploding property and auto insurance rates, the affordability crisis, and so much more.

The session begins this month in Tallahassee on January 9 and runs through March 8. You can follow all the bills filed and coming before the various committees by visiting www.myfloridahouse.gov. Please reach out to me with any thoughts and concerns you may have. Your input is a necessary and valued part of this process.

As always, please feel free to reach out to our office at 954-956-5600 with any questions you may have. I will also be providing updates on Facebook at @RepChristineHunschofsky and on Twitter at @chunschofsky. If you wish to receive email updates, please email us at HD095@myfloridahouse.gov.
