Shandacia Richmond {BSO}
A woman was arrested after allegedly hitting her children at a restaurant, then barricading herself with them inside a Pollo Tropical bathroom following a 911 call from Crafty Crab staff.
According to a Margate Police Department arrest report, the incident began on April 23 at Crafty Crab at 5379 West Atlantic Boulevard. A waitress called 911 after reporting that a woman, later identified as Shandacia Richmond, 29, of Lauderhill, entered the restaurant with her two children and began acting erratically, yelling at customers and disrupting the business.
Witnesses told deputies the woman appeared intoxicated and, after ordering food, began striking her children across the head while yelling at them. Staff said her behavior escalated as she shouted at employees and patrons, raising concerns about the children and others inside the restaurant.
Records show officers arrived, investigated, and later located Richmond in the parking lot with the children, but when they approached, she ran to a nearby Pollo Tropical. Officers said she entered the restaurant and attempted to barricade herself and the children inside the bathroom while continuing to yell and create a disturbance.
Officers reported that they were able to access the bathroom and attempted to take Richmond into custody, but she pulled away and refused to identify herself.
Richmond was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. She was transported to the Broward County Main Jail. She was later released after posting a $650 bond.
The arrest report notes that law enforcement is familiar with Richmond due to recent arrests for cyber stalking, disorderly conduct, child abuse, and child neglect.
