Over 16,000 Semifinalists were named in the 68th annual National Merit Scholarship Program, one of which is a Monarch High School student.
Senior Brooke Reynolds and her family reside in Coconut Creek, where she attended Imagine Charter School and Lyons Creek Middle.
As president of the school’s math club and a member of several others, Reynolds has always made school a top priority.
She aims to study at a university with a good math and science program.
“I know pursuing a career in engineering is something that interests me,” she said.
To be considered for a National Merit Scholarship, semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the finalist level.
About 95 percent of the semifinalists are expected to attain finalist standing, and approximately half will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.
