Mayor Arserio Updates Margate Residents

Mayor Antonio V. Arserio

A Message from Mayor Antonio V. Arserio

Welcome to Spring and the great weather it brings. Thanks to Daylight Savings, residents have more time to enjoy the sunlight and the great outdoors.

If you want to spruce the landscaping around your home, don’t miss the upcoming Tree Giveaway on April 30 at the corner of Margate Boulevard and State Road 7. It is a popular tree giveaway among residents, distributed on a first-come, first-served basis so remember to arrive early at 8 a.m. to get your free citrus fruit tree.

April 22 is Earth Day, and Margate is happy to participate in the grassroots environmental movement to protect our planet. Help the City of Margate be greener by participating in the next Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Disposal scheduled for April 30 at Oriole Park. If you have paint, batteries, pool chemicals, or other hazardous debris taking space in your garage, bring it here to dispose of it properly. You can also bring up to three paper boxes of documents for shredding at no cost.

I hope to see you at the Memorial Day Ceremony on May 30 at Veterans Memorial Park. Every year, the City holds this traditional ceremony to teach the true meaning of this day of remembrance of our local heroes. Please join me as we honor the men and women who sacrificed their lives while serving in the military.

The Parks and Recreation Department does an exceptional job keeping our kids entertained for the summer by offering a program filled with plenty of fun activities, field trips, sports, and arts and crafts.

Beginning on June 13, don’t forget to register your children for the City of Margate Summer Camps, available for children ages 5-12 and teens ages 13-16. Be sure to register in advance to save your spot. The summer camps run for eight weeks until August 5.

Finally, Calypso Cove reopens daily from June 11 until August 14. This water park brings happiness to the entire family with a zero-entry pool for the little ones, two other swimming pools to use if you’re interested in swimming lessons, and a super fun water slide. Come splash at the pool anytime from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. during the hot days of summer.

Please enjoy all the activities the City of Margate has to offer.
