Margate’s Vinson Park will reopen with a grand opening ceremony on Saturday, April 23, nearly nine months after it closed for renovations, city officials announced Monday.
The city spent around $1.9 million on improvements to the park at 955 N.W. 66th Ave., including renovated baseball fields and batting cages, a new playground, and a splash pad.
The funding came from Margate’s General Obligation Bond for Parks and Recreation Projects, approved by voters in 2018, officials said.
“We are thrilled to celebrate the renovation of Vinson Park and provide a public play space for children and families to enjoy the outdoors,” Margate Mayor Antonio Arserio said of the scheduled opening.
The reopening event starts at 9 a.m. and will include a ribbon cutting ceremony, bounce houses, and free Kona Ice for kids. The first baseball games on the new fields will also be played.
