Margate Man Arrested For Sexually Battering Child

A Margate man has been charged with sexually battering a child after she came over to his home to do her laundry, court records show.

Dameion Rowe, 43, of 1531 NW 63rd Way, had non-consensual sex with the girl on Aug. 4, 2021, when she was between the age of 13 and 17, according to an arrest affidavit.

The girl told Margate Police that Rowe’s mother was a friend of her family’s and lived with her son. The victim had gone over to their home before to wash her clothes, records show.

At some point, the girl took a nap on Rowe’s couch. While she was lying down, she felt Rowe penetrate her, records show. Rowe’s mother was not home at the time, the girl told police.

Investigators said that DNA was collected from inside the girl’s body, and underwear came back as a match to Rowe’s DNA.

A warrant was issued for Rowe’s arrest, but he remained at large until Aug. 25. 2022, when his car was flagged by a license plate surveillance camera operated by Margate Police, records show.

Police said they found a loaded Smith and Wesson .40 caliber pistol and marijuana in Rowe’s car. They arrested him on the outstanding warrant and charged him with sexual battery on a juvenile victim over 12.

Rowe was booked into the Broward Main Jail and released on a $50,000 bond while awaiting trial.
