Through our joint effort with the Margate Police Department to share updates with residents, this is a summary of Margate’s crime and arrests through Oct. 29, 2022.
Armed Robbery
An Armed Robbery of Wells Fargo, 400 N SR. 7, was reported on 10/28/2022. An armed robbery call came into communications and advised that an armed subject had robbed the bank. The subject fled before PD’s arrival. However, Margate PD/BSO located the subject/vehicle, and suspect Fedell Benacia was taken into custody without incident in Oakland Park on 441. A suspicious package was also left inside the bank, and the BSO bomb squad responded. Additionally, the FBI was notified and responded.
Burglary Vehicle
Burglary Vehicle arrests were made on SW 55th Way on 10/26/2022. The victim witnessed subjects pulling on his vehicle door handles via RING camera. Both were located. Suspects Damien Gooden and Elijah Pendleton were arrested.
A Vehicle Burglary was reported at 470 N Laurel Dr on 10/21/22. The victim stated he put his tools in the bed of his truck with the bed hood unlocked. The tools taken were two green Makita drills in a green case worth approximately $350.
A Vehicle Burglary was reported at Walgreens, 7150 W. Atlantic Blvd., on 10/31/2022. The victim left the doors unlocked, and the purse was stolen from inside.
A 49-year-old woman was the victim Burglary Vehicle on Nw 65th Ave on 10/29/2022. Tot. Est. Loss: $200.
Grand Theft
A Grand Theft Firearm was reported at 3400 NW 62nd AV on 10/25/2022. Suspect Calvert Harris was pulled over for a tint violation. A search of the vehicle revealed a stolen gun in a bag between Harris’s legs. He was transported to BSO Main Jail.
Petit Theft
A Petit Theft was reported at CVS, 1200 N SR-7, on 10/31. Suspect Justin Bruno passed all points of sale with $110 worth of merchandise.
Arrests
Lewis, Jeremiah Ivory, 27, was arrested on charges of Battery-felony Batt Or Domestic Batt By Strangulation on NW 4th St on 10/29/2022.
Garcia, Selided, 49, was arrested on Touch Or Strike/battery/domestic Viol charges on SW 2nd St on 10/29/2022.
Pendleton, Elijah John, 19, was arrested on charges of Burgl-conveyanceUnoccupied on Sw 55th Way on 10/26/2022.
Gooden, Damien Demetris, 18, was arrested on charges of Burgl-conveyance Unoccupied Sw 55th Way on 10/26/2022.
Brown, Ty’navias Makli, 23, was arrested on charges of Flee/elude Police-flee W Disregard Of Safety To Pers Or Prop on N State Road 7 on 10/25/2022.
Duenas, Christian, 46, was arrested on charges of Battery-touch Or Strike on Lakeside Dr on 10/25/2022.
Brown, Shakief Backari, 25, was arrested on charges of Larc-grand Theft Of Firearm on W Atlantic Blvd on 10/26/2022.
