On Thursday, HCA Florida Northwest Hospital in Margate celebrated the opening of the biplane suite, a significant investment in advanced neuroscience technology.
Dr. Ram Chavali, M.D., a board-certified neuro interventionalist specializing in stroke care, recently arrived and will serve as director of the neuroendovascular services at HCA. According to Chavali, the new biplane suite allows 3D scans of the patient’s vascular system and will significantly help treat strokes.
“I came here because I wanted to go to a place where I could make a positive difference in a community, and this is where I can do it,” he said.
The new biplane suite will allow stroke patients to receive critical treatment much faster because they won’t have to go to the larger hospitals farther away. Time is crucial because brain cells die quickly without oxygen, and this will allow doctors and health providers to access the latest technology to identify and treat problems.
According to Kenneth Jones, the CEO of HCA Florida Northwest, the new biplane suite will allow the hospital to serve the local community better. Patients will receive the most advanced technology available close to home. Jones estimates that the suite cost about $3.5 to install.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony brought the leaders of the HCA hospital together for a fun celebration. Jones introduced Chavali and said the biplane suite would raise the hospital’s stature. Mayor Arlene Schwartz, Commissioner Anthony Caggiano, and city manager Cale Curtis attended.
HCA Florida Northwest Hospital is at 2801 North State Road 7, Margate.
