A Coral Springs man was charged with attempted murder for shooting a man in Margate earlier this month, police said.

Jamal Bryant, 24, of 2723 NW 83rd Ter., fired multiple gunshots at the victim from his green 2011 BMW on Dec. 2, according to an arrest affidavit filed by Margate Police. The shooting happened near West Atlantic Boulevard and Banks Road, police said.

The victim was shot in his hip as he drove a rented, white 2021 Mazda SUV, the affidavit states. The bullet became lodged in his pelvic region, police said.

A second intended victim, a woman riding in the wounded man’s car, ducked down in the front passenger seat during the shooting and was not hit, police said.

Multiple bullet holes were found in the side of the Mazda, police said.

Bryant opened fire on the SUV’s occupants following an argument between them at a 7-Eleven at 4998 W. Atlantic Blvd. in Margate, records show.

The male victim drove straight to Broward Health North, police said.

After the shooting, investigators used security camera footage to identify the shooter’s car as Bryant’s BMW, police said. The car has a specialty Tampa Bay Buccaneers license plate, the affidavit states.

Bryant, who fit the description provided by the victims, was later identified in a photo lineup by the female victim, police said. The male victim was medicated in the hospital at the time, police.

Coral Springs Police took Bryant into custody and transported him to the Margate Police Department, the affidavit states.

Bryant refused to speak with police and requested an attorney, police said.

He was charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and firing into a vehicle.

Records show Bryant was booked into the Broward Main Jail and ordered held without bond.
