A city cleanup, organized by the mayor and a local business owner, is on the April agenda, kicking off more earth-friendly events and a ‘brighter, cleaner Margate’ initiative this Spring.

Arserio is hosting the Saturday event with local businessman Jim Devine, owner of the Margate Legacy Healing Center.

On April 16 at 10 a.m., the pair will be at Dandee Donut Factory, armed with everything the public needs to pick up litter safely. Volunteers will be walking along State Road 7, between Winfield Boulevard and NW 31st Street.

Arserio said the donut shop was chosen as the meeting spot since it should give volunteers a tasty start toward the goal of cleaning up the city and making a note of any infrastructure in need of repair.

“This is also a good way for students to earn volunteer hours, so I’m hoping to sign off on community service sheets at the event,” said Arserio.

He added that this would be the first of several pickup opportunities the city of Margate has planned and that all of the cleanup events are set up so parents who come with minors can avoid traffic along the route.

The Clean-up is Saturday, April 16, from 10 and 12 p.m. at Dandee Donut Factory, located at 3101 N State Road 7.
